Paine Field is hiring an Airport Maintenance Technician I position. This position is responsible for assisting in the completion of general maintenance work and other routine tasks to keep Paine Field’s buildings, grounds, and landscaping well‑maintained. In this job you will learn many new skills, providing you with a good introduction to the maintenance and construction industry for inexperienced workers, and steady work for more experienced individuals.
Candidates should be comfortable working inside and outside in all types of weather. You must have a valid State of Washington Driver’s License.
BASIC FUNCTION
Perform routine manual labor tasks and operate a variety of light equipment as directed.
Statement Of Essential Job Duties
Drive a variety of single axle trucks, forklifts, tractors, mowing, and snow clearing equipment.
Perform routine cleaning, service, and maintenance as listed, outlined or recommended in dealer/distributor operator manuals on assigned equipment.
Pick up and deliver equipment, materials, parts, and supplies as required.
Perform a variety of routine cleaning tasks on Airport facilities and equipment.
Set up facilities for a variety of meetings and events.
Perform a variety of routine grounds and landscape maintenance tasks such as mowing, edging, trimming, watering, weeding, raking, planting, fertilizing, pesticide/herbicide spraying, and pick‑and‑shovel work on Airport landscape areas.
Perform pavement maintenance such as pavement cutting, routing, and crack sealing, surface coating, and patching.
Work alongside, coordinating the team efforts of peer group workers, subordinates, temporary workers and work release inmates, under the direct or indirect supervision of the Airport Maintenance Supervisor or his assigned representative.
Statement Of Other Duties
May assist Airport Maintenance Technicians as a helper performing menial tasks in support of maintenance projects.
Perform related duties as required.
One (1) year experience in routine maintenance and landscaping work; OR any combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities. Experience in airport facility maintenance and landscaping is preferred. Must pass job related tests.
Special Requirements
A valid State of Washington Driver's License is required for employment.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid First Aid Card and CPR Certification within ninety (90) days of employment is required.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Washington State Traffic Flagging card within ninety (90) days of employment is required.
Candidates for employment may be required to pass a post‑offer physical examination prior to being hired. A written and field test also may be required.

The equipment, materials and tools associated with operating light equipment and doing routine maintenance work.
The hazards associated with the work.
Safety rules and regulations.
Basic first aid and CPR methods and procedures.
Standard janitorial equipment, procedures and supplies.
Ability To
Operate and maintain a variety of light trucks and motorized maintenance equipment as required by the position.
Use a variety of hand and power tools skillfully and safely under a variety of work conditions.
Perform strenuous physical work.
Read, understand and follow safety rules and regulations.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Establish and maintain effective work relationships with superiors and co‑workers.
Deal courteously and tactfully with the general public.
Use common janitorial equipment and cleaning solutions skillfully and safely.
PHYSICAL EFFORT
The work involves a variety of manual labor tasks requiring some strenuous physical effort such as lifting objects weighing in excess of fifty (50) pounds.
SUPERVISION
Employee reports to senior level Airport Maintenance Lead Worker or an Airport Maintenance Supervisor, or their directed representative, as assigned. The work is routine and recurring in nature and may be spot‑checked to ensure timely completion and compliance with instructions, procedures and standards. Specific instructions are given for unusual or non‑routine tasks.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The work is performed both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather at airport work sites and throughout the county. Employees may be exposed to a variety of hazards and are exposed to dust, fumes, grease and inclement weather. Employees are required to work evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary.
