Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:*Develops advanced and moderately complex statistical data resources to assist in:1. Proactive and targeted investigations2. Preventative enforcement and education3. Identification of criminal patterns and trends, and4. Identification of known and repeat offenders through the use of computer databases, electronic spreadsheets, desktop publishing, work processing, and statistical applications to manipulate, analyze, and present data.* Conducts statistical and strategic analysis of crime data, which includes preparing monthly, quarterly, annual, and on-request reports that describe crime patterns, crime trends, and potential suspects.* Responds to ad hoc requests from appropriate individuals for immediate intelligence needs supporting administrative and operational requirements.* Provides information to police, City administration, and City Council for decision-making purposes; presents analysis and statistics in various internal and external forums; and participates in and provides information to police/City committees.* Maintains up-to-date knowledge on current research methodology and police issues and makes appropriate recommendations for improvements in crime analysis practices, as well as works with senior command staff to streamline processes related to data collection and data retrieval.* Prepares graphs, charts, tables, and other illustrative devices for visual presentation of data.* Evaluates information, selects essential elements, and correlates new information with existing information.* Performs other duties as assigned or required.**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:****Education, training and Experience Guidelines**Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Criminal Justice or a related field. Four (4) years of full-time work experience in criminal intelligence analysis or a related field.**OR** Any combination of experience, training and or education that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.**Knowledge of:*** Understanding of intermediate/advanced operations, services and activities of a crime analysis program.* Understanding of recent developments, current literature and information related to crime analysis.* Understanding of principles, practices, methodologies and techniques of crime analysis, crime prevention and law enforcement.* Understanding of pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes and safety regulations.**Skill in:*** Applying principles and practices of program development and implementation.* Applying methods and techniques of statistical research and analysis.* Effectively utilizing computer operations and statistical and graphics software.* Performing statistical research and analysis.* Auditing and validating crime data.* Applying principles of logic and scientific methods to define problems involving concrete and abstract variables.* Interpreting and explaining City policies and procedures.* Operating office equipment, including computers and supporting crime analysis programs and databases.* Preparing clear and concise reports.* Creating and testing statistical models used to predict criminal activity.* Communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.* Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.* Reading: Read and understand technical manuals, business documents, policies and procedures, and system documentation.* Math: Perform mathematical calculations and make projections and forecasts.* Reasoning: Exercising sound judgment in interpretations and decisions that affect intelligence products.**LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS**Valid Class "C" Texas driver’s license required. Out-of-state license holders must have a valid license and provide a three-year driving history. **PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT**Standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, kneeling, crouching, crawling, bending, twisting, climbing, balancing, vision, hearing, talking, use of foot controls.
