Are you interested in obtaining your CDL and passenger endorsement?  If so, join our UPMC Corporate Supply Chain team as a Shuttle Bus Operator Trainee!  

This is a wonderful opportunity to attend in-house training to learn the skills needed to take the State Department of Transportation Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) exam.  Upon receiving the CDL and passenger endorsement, the trainee moves into a Shuttle Bus Operator position within the department.  Our Shuttle Bus Operators are responsible for driving our employees from designated UPMC parking lots to their work locations within the city of Pittsburgh.  Trainees who do not complete the training or do not pass the CDL and/or (P) endorsement exam per program guidelines will be terminated.

Responsibilities:

  • Learns to maintain ridership information and report per company processes and maintain route standards and only stray from the designated route with permission of management or law enforcement.
  • Learns D.O.T. compliance requirements and how to remain compliant with all regulations and guidelines established by the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration (FMCSA), Driver License, Medical Card, Motor Vehicle Resource (MVR).
  • Develop and foster a strong working relationship with all riders and co-workers. 
  • Provide the highest level of customer service to all passengers. 
  • Demonstrate safe working and driving actions. 
  • Complies with all UPMC Employee Transit policies and procedures.
  • Participates actively in maintaining cleanliness standards in buses and UPMC facilities.
  • Fuel vehicles according to company policy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
