Job Description

Travel Insured International (TII), a Crum & Forster company, is hiring a System Engineer in our IT team in Glastonbury, CT.

Travel Insured International is a leading travel insurance provider with more than 25 years in business. As a key component of our Specialty Business Unit (SBU), within the Accident & Health division, TII provides travel protection plans to help each individual travel confidently. The System Engineer will help design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot our rapidly growing infrastructure, computer systems and networks. You will be a part of a Core Infrastructure Team of engineers that demonstrate superb technical competency, deliver mission-critical infrastructure, and ensure the highest levels of availability, performance, and security. Your role will involve analyzing system requirements, identifying areas for improvement, and providing technical expertise to support the organization's infrastructure.

What you will do:

  1. System Design and Implementation:
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand system requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
    • Design, configure, and deploy computer systems, networks, and associated infrastructure components.
    • Conduct thorough testing and validation of systems to ensure functionality, performance, and security.
  2. System Integration and Maintenance:
    • Integrate new software, hardware, and network solutions into existing systems.
    • Perform regular maintenance and monitoring of systems to ensure optimal performance, identify and resolve issues promptly.
    • Implement security measures and protocols to protect systems from potential threats and vulnerabilities.
  3. Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:
    • Investigate and diagnose system malfunctions or performance issues and develop effective solutions.
    • Collaborate with technical teams to troubleshoot complex system problems and provide timely resolutions.
    • Document and communicate technical issues, solutions, and best practices to team members and end-users.
  4. System Upgrades and Enhancements:
    • Identify opportunities for system improvements and recommend appropriate upgrades or modifications.
    • Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends, assessing their potential for enhancing existing systems.
    • Plan and execute system upgrades, migrations, and expansions, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  5. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation including system designs, configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
    • Generate regular reports on system performance, capacity, and reliability metrics.
    • Collaborate with team members to develop and enhance system documentation standards.
  1. Collaboration and Teamwork:
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, network administrators, and project managers, to ensure seamless integration and operation of systems.
    • Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues, sharing expertise and knowledge to facilitate effective problem-solving.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience is required.
  • A minimum of 5+ years as a Systems Engineer or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of systems engineering principles, methodologies, and best practices is required.
  • Proficiency in system design and implementation, including hardware, software, and network components is required.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud computing platforms (e.g., GCP, Azure) is preferred.
  • Experience with system monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity planning is preferred.
  • Knowledge of security principles, protocols, and best practices is required.
  • Industry certifications such as Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) are a plus.

Salary ranges are available for all positions at this location, taking into account roles with a comparable level of responsibility and impact in the relevant labor market and these salary ranges are regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance with prevailing market conditions. The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $91,100 to a maximum of $151,900. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
