Your Role

Are you driven to unlock the power of data to improve real-world technologies like autonomous vehicles and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS)? As a Data Analytics Engineering Intern with the Advanced Safety and User Experience (ASUX) team in Troy, MI, you will support the Data Mining & Analysis (DM&A) group in analyzing vehicle sensor data and developing tools that improve traffic sign recognition, algorithm validation, and autonomous system performance. You'll contribute directly to building safer, smarter vehicles through data-driven innovation.

What You'll Do:

• Design and implement data harvesting tools to extract traffic sign information from real-world vehicle data.
• Build semi-automated ground truth validation pipelines for labeling and validating traffic sign data.
• Develop and train machine learning models for traffic sign identification and classification.
• Use tools like Python, MATLAB, SQL, and basic C/C++ to develop, analyze, and visualize datasets.
• Create a robust and searchable database to store high-quality ground truth annotations.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with algorithm, testing, and system architecture teams.
• Contribute to projects that enhance regulatory compliance, ADAS functionality, and global scalability.

What You'll Need:

• Enrolled in a degree program in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience with Python and/or MATLAB for data processing and visualization.
• Exposure to SQL, C/C++, or computer vision techniques is a plus.
• A passion for data mining, machine learning, and automotive applications.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
• Interest in autonomous driving and ADAS systems.
